“The Vikings and Minnesota State-Mankato are still hoping they can hold mini-camp in Mankato this summer. The NFL lockout was holding plans back, but with apparent progress in labor negotiations, a July 18th deadline to determine whether to hold this year's camp in Mankato was extended yesterday. M-S-U spokesman Michael Cooper says both sides are confident the N-F-L lockout will end soon. Cooper says the M-S-U campus is prepared to host the Vikings for two weeks of practice and scrimmages. The tentative dates are July 29th through August 12th. Officials at Minnesota State-Mankato are still hoping the N-F-L lockout ends this week and national reports indicate it likely will. The Vikings and M-S-U have agreed to delay yesterday's deadline for making a decision on whether this year's training camp will be held in Mankato. Spokesman Michael Cooper says the Mankato campus is ready for some football Cooper says M-S-U doesn't make revenue from Vikings training camp but the school does get a lot of great publicity. The Greater Mankato Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates the two-week event generates about five-million dollars for the local economy. ”
