“You know me too well don't you! Though I'm utterly aware of the 10th August deadline bearing down on all of us! It is so brilliant to hear you sharing stuff on audioBoo and congrats on Metazen. I have to admit I've been lurking and checking out all the places where you are being published and shuffling through my files to see what I might be able to submit... which makes me feel a bit guilty in some ways. So I give you persmission to start badgering me to submit stuff - I have no idea what's holding me back. And I'd love to hear your take on comics... I think you promised a boo a bit ago when Chris did his. Have a great day... and hopefully we'll talk in real time soon.” -

“Greg... we've been very careful never to make our son feel ashamed about any part of his life - especially reading... thus I've come and asked those I trust to give me the low down. As you say - we're thrilled he is reading and I get a tingle all over when I see him in the back of the car with his latest comic book totally absorbed in it. He's 6 and the fact he wants to read something is brilliant. The only problem I foresee now is his reading ability outstripping what is actually appropriate for his reading level. He told me reading is comic is like "reading a movie" and he then went on to explain to me the intricacies of the thought and dialogue boxes etc. And I should reframe what I said about thinking comics were "trash"... I just never appreciated what they actually were/are.” -

“Jen - that's the best line of the whole story. I had to record this six times to get all the good bits in and syphon out all the uninteresting bits.” -

Dairy gets me in terms of nasal conjestion etc... so stay away from it and I don't suffer - which is lucky because I hate milk and go easy on yoghurt/icecream etc. My one big downfall is cheese. Anyway - let's not sit around and compare allergies. Thanks for your kind prodding to get the voice stuff recorded. I intend to record a little more about Chinese Whisperings tomorrow.” -

“ravo! I knew I could turn to you to make sense of it all for me. I had honestly never thought of superman like that before (probably because I never read a superman comic and of couse, relied on cartoons and movies to form my opinions). I understand now how it fits with in the social-political-historical sphere. As Mr D is enamoured especially ... See morewith Spiderman (and SpongeBob) I guess it is time to (as Tony's character, Vince, would say) "cowboy up" and get with the times. I wish I knew where I'd formed the opinion they were trash. I guess like anything - if you don't live in a home where something is appreciated, you absorb by osmosis. I also know the boys who taunted and ridiculed me were all big comic readers... so I wonder how much of my opinion is transference of that? Anyway - thank you for outsing me as thinking comics are trash (just got kicked from the cool kids table) and thanks for giving me a new way in which to frame them. You rock. Next I'd love to hear what drew YOU to read them as a kid?” -

“Have you seen the flim of the muncher machine - the one that munches things like fridges and tractor tyres. I'll need to get my dad to send the link. Glad to see you've had a bit of big machine love for the day!” -
