“If I may respectfully say, I think you approached the matter a tad too aggressively. Though I didn't hear the conversation before you stared recording, your tone on the Boo was open to perception, I felt, as confrontational. I've lived in the Uk for 14 year snow and I've learned that a kind word (usually 'please'), a smile and a little charm goes a lot farther in resolving these kind of issues than citing chapter and verse of legislation. I find it's always better to frame a question like that as if you are asking for a favour. Martin goes home that night with a bit of job satisfaction for having helped someone and you get you replacement game. The British have an excellent term for people like Martin: "Jobsworth". Once you got him on his high-horse, we was not coming down. Though people like him are the bain of our lives, in a hierarchical British society they are always going to exist so we just have to deal with them. Excellent Boos though. I don't often come to Audioboo but I stumbled across you many months ago and you are the main reason I come back. Keep it up!” -
