58.2398NI Lingerie Shopes to close
over 1 year ago1325432999 Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
“Four La Senza Lingerie shops in NI are to close. Two in Belfast and one each in Ballymena and Derry. The company blamed tough trading conditions for the rationalisation which will see it shut 80 stores across the UK. The firm was placed into admininstration just before Christmas. Despite the closures and recent bad news for Barratts shoes and D2 clothes retailers, Belfast City Centre Manager Andrew Irvine says it's the outworking of a UK wide problem, not something specific to NI or Belfast.” -

34.3998Lorry driven into Quinn Canteen
over 1 year ago1324520189 Derrylin, Fermanagh, United Kingdom
“Damage has been caused to the headquarters of the Quinn Group in Derrylin, County Fermanagh. It's understood a lorry was backed into the staff canteen last night, leaving a gaping hole in the building. The lorry was then driven away and burned out on a nearby side-road. No-one was in the building when it happened. It's the latest in a series of attacks on Quinn Group properties, since the former Anglo-Irish Bank took control of the business. The bank has been in court this week attempting to have Sean Quinn's bankruptcy in Northern Ireland set aside. ” -

He says insurance companies will still be asked to help sort out the bill in the longer term. ” -

Flybe hopes to have its equipment back up and running by 3pm. In the meantime it's relying on equipment provided by the airport to keep things moving” -

54.1198“The family of Newry man Sean Ruddy has been told his death at the hands of soldiers in 1971 ``shouldn't have happened``. He was shot dead along with 2 others when they tried to steal takings from two bar staff making a deposit in a night safe. An undercover army unit had been posted in the area expecting an IRA bomb attack on the bank. They fired on the three friends as they ran off after the attempted robbery, unarmed and empty handed. The family today published the findings of an Historical Enquiry Team report into the incident which concluded it was a tragedy which should not have happened.” -
