Again, it's down to education. I guess they thought they were being helpful! My Wife's mother used to make my Wife eat bananas, despite her protests, although she didn't know she was allergic until later. Now my MIL feels guilty about it.
I'm allergic to bananas too, although they are easier to avoid. I was at one restaurant where they brought my bunless hamburger with a side order of pasta salad!
Not whiny at all, Sharon! I learned a lot from it. My Wife is allergic to squash (zucchini, etc.) and bananas, and that can be a challenge. Restaurants do need to educate their staff as to what is actually in their food. Of course, the problem is that if we did all know exactly what was in our restaurant food (depending on the restaurant, of course), we might eat out less!
