I've used various mobile broadband devices in a car. The crucial issue is whether they automatically reconnect after loss of signal. Once you get off the motorways, it's not unusual to lose a signal for 10 or 15 minutes. When the signal comes back again, does the device reconnect automatically? If it doesn't, people will get so frustrated they'll give up using it.
