except for the pops the standard headset sounded best indeed. thanks for sharing! don't have a Desire yet, will buy it.

Ignore the pops! The external mic is a brando £10 mic i got from ebay, and the headset is the standard htc headset which imo is the best. All these were recorded using the 'hertz' app as it allows for higher bit rate recordings, unlike the built in recorder for some reason.
