Well done donald dewar and John Smith for standing up for Scotland and paving the way for the re-establishment of the Scottish Parliament. Many Scottish MPs stood for Scotland and signed the Scottish Claim of Right. Unfortunately no one seems to be prepared to give similar representation to that other proud historic nation - England.

England is as valid country as Scotland. Yet the people of England have been denied even consultation on the re-establishment of their English Parliament. Labour tried it's damnedest to balkanise England into "regions" again without consent. A recent poll (IPPR) has support for an English parliament running at 69% but still we are denied democratic equality with Scotland.

You touched on poverty. The average English person gets £1600 less per person, per year from central government than an average Scot. Elderly English people have to sell their homes for care - not so in Scotland, English students leave University £10000 more in debt than Scottish students because Scots have their tuition fees paid for by the state, English people pay £7.20 per prescription - £3 in Scotland, free in Wales. These are are a few examples of the raw deal the English currently get from the British government because we have no parliament of our own standing for us.

Will you commit to funding equality and democratic equality? The Tories are weak on England and there is a great opportunity for Labour here. Will Labour remember its English roots and stand for England?
