Sam talks to Birmingham fellow Dr Sara Jones from both the Department of Political Science and International Studies and the Department of Modern Languages. Sara’s research examines the importance of eye witness testimony, specifically within East Germany and the German Democratic Republic (GDR). Sara explains the use of the German term ’zeitzeugen’, which means ‘people who witnessed a certain time’, and tells us about the findings of her research project ‘Reconstructing the Stasi: Images of Police Repression in the United Germany’.
