As it happens, i don't actually get to as many of the local events as i'd like to. I have my faves, which i always try & get to. You've probably seen videos pf most of those. I'd happily encourage anyone to visit Hastings & i'd be more than happy to show you around & let you sleep on my couch. Btw, Beatles Day is on Sunday April 10th in 2011 ;)
It’s good to hear that you take advantage of all that your local area has to offer. I always tell people that although I live in a pretty small town, there’s always something to do if you just open your eyes and search things out. I’m never bored! I love the area I live because there’s always great food, music, art, entertainment, etc. around me at all times.
Hastings is, btw, on my list of places to visit in the future as you’ve made it sound so charming! (Can I sleep on your couch??) :)
@kenrg Guess what? We currently have a month long festival running called "Coastal Currents", which sounds very similar to what you've described. Good idea isn't it? When i was down on the beach the other day. Some of the artists had small exhibitions in their beach huts.
It seems that every community in this area also has its little annual festival, and it seems they're pretty much interchangable, with the same crafts people, musicians, local restaurants and wineries, etc., displaying at each one... but still a lot of fun. One of my favorite things, though, is coming up next month, and it's the Santa Cruz Open Studios, where artists open their homes and show their work and studio space. So many great local artists who you'd never find otherwise.
