This poem tells a brief but timeless and well-known tale of unrequited love and how shyness and insecurity can lead to inevitable loneliness. Thus did I spend the Autumn of 1992 wishing for the nerve to approach those with whom I wanted to become better friends and possibly more than friends…
Having had little or no experience in dealing with females who were not my sister or cousin – outside of the tragic torture which occurred during 8th grade years before this poem was written – I was afraid and unsure of how to ask a pretty girl out. Yeah, I’m talking to you Kelly, Tina, and Sadee… (oops did I just say that?)
