Oh I forgot to say....well done to all those of you who 'Boo' it takes courage and maturity to put your thoughts and feelings out there for others to listen to. I am sure there are others who will take some comfort and strength from your stories.
It is sad that you didn't get to go to the funeral. However there are other ways to say goodbye........I was too ill to attend the funeral of a very good friend of mine a few years ago. When I was better I went to a place in the country we had often visited together. I sat quietly for a while (I actually lit a little candle too because it sort of felt right!) I was able to be still and quiet for a time and think about my friend and the good times we had known. I was able to talk to him, I felt, and tell him how important he'd been to me and how I and many others would miss him. This really helped me to feel that I had said goodbye and had some closure. Maybe there is something you could do to help you feel you've said goodbye too. Best wishes.
