The quest "Who is your hero?" was a shockingly difficult one for me to answer. It took me quite a bit of time, after listening to this, to even decide if I have a hero. What I've decided is that its normal people who struggle each and everyday to make ends meet, and yet still manage to get out of bed each day, smile, laugh, live, take care of their families, and stand strong in the face of adversity. I suppose if I was to narrow that down to one particular person, it would have to be my mom. Having grown up, watching her work two jobs, while raising myself and my brother on her own and putting herself through 4 years of university, I'm at a point in my life where I can honestly say I am proud to be her daughter.
Another thought I've just had is that people should aspire to be their own hero. I think its important to live life in a way in which you can be proud of yourself. I'm not really sure if that makes sense...I cannot say if I am my own hero or not, but I don't think it would be a bad thing to aim for..
listening to this I can honestly say I've realised that I don't think I have any particular 'heroes'. Not celebrity ones anyway. There are public figures I admire and look up to but none that particularly inspire me to make a change to my personal life or to the world around me. I think this is mainly because a lot of celebrities these days are so hard to relate to, I feel unable to connect to them. probably because of how the media changes your perception of them. The person I'd say I admire, look up to and who inspires me the most is my best friend. he's his own person and has taught me that you shouldn't conform to how other people want you to be. before I knew him I didn't really have much purpose or motivation. but now he's inspired me to do the best I can with my life and I am so so grateful to him for that. Sorry for the rant/ cliché. This is a subject I've never really thought about before and it was nice to write down my thoughts as they came to me :)
