Oh and, I meant to say: love love love DFW's speech. Love.
"There are these two young fish swimming along, and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says, "Morning, boys, how's the water?" And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, "What the hell is water?"
Congrats! I am TRRRRRRRRUDGING through Kundera's "Life is Elsewhere" mainly because it's so f-ing rich and textured and quite complex, and most of the weekdays when I come home from work, after having been up since 0500, I don't much feel like it. But when I do finish it damit it will be my 2nd of the year.
Hey you know what? I shouldn't sell myself short...besides trudging through a Kundera novel iin Romanian, I"m also doing this: http://swine.posterous.com/on-judging-others
So I shouldn't omit that from my yearly total.
