Cheers for the great feedback :) Will definitely progress this more.... The mahoosive amounts of guitar is simply down to the fact I LOVED my ex-flatmates playing and could never make myself resist layer upon layer of it :D

it kind of reminded me of hum along and dance by the jacksons in a weird way http://open.spotify.com/track/1WQuNfci7iueAB9JYaTYVB

hmmm i guess it made me think more eighties disco based in new york/harlem than california, so maybe im steering you away from your initial thoughts on the track?

When i used to produce, i always felt less is more, and stripped it right back and focused on getting a few sounds right but at the same time creating the right atmosphere. The guitar solo's sound a bit OTT at the moment, a bit messy, but its not a BAD sound to have in there.. just a little less of them?

Of course these suggestions are just MY ears.. everyone has different ears dont they! :)

Really helpful to get your feedback bud 8) I've done what I always do and go off in different production directions every time i've worked on it - so it's just got hugely confused! I've spent sooooo many hours on it lol - completely lost focus.

I'm definitely going to strip it back now - and also probably make it 4 mins long max - and then i think i'll look for some narrative vocal amongst my records - got a fair few 'speeches of' so maybe they'll provide the missing link! wish i could sing !!!

ok my two cents worth if your interested mate. Sounds like theres about 3 different tunes in there at the moment. At the start, i was thinking, mmm this is crying ot for some big stabby brass. and in it came! i think your searching to bring it together, and i would bring in some samples to do that.. either human vocal, street sounds, cars maybe, traffic.. something drawn away from the synth sound as i think you have gone far enough with all those sounds.. bring the opposites in like you did at the start with the funky guitar and disco beats with the synth lines but add some more "urban" to it...should turn out great!
