Share? Are you kidding? I made a pie once and a friend wanted to try it. I wouldn't give her a whole piece until she'd had a taste of mine. I didn't figure there was any reason to cut an entire piece for someone who wouldn't enjoy it.
Thank you. I'm very challenged when it comes to outdoor plants. Mine are the green variety, but I think maybe they're still just a bit too hard. I'm just afraid to wait too long because last year I made that mistake and when I went to pick, they were gone. Don't know if the birds ate them or if they fell off from being there too long or what, but it was devastating! Gooseberries aren't supposed to grow here, the charts say I'm in the wrong region, but there are lots of berries on my two bushes. I want to make pie, lots and lots of pie. :)
Hi Jo, that's relatively easy. Normally they're ready from June onwards depending on where in the world you are and the variety of the gooseberry. A ripe gooseberry will be slightly soft to touch, and will taste a little tart but not sour. If they are a red or golden variety they will also take on that colour rather than being green.
Hope that helps, but let me know if you've got any other questions :)
