Tax avoidance: Immoral or efficient?

Jimmy Carr gave his first on-camera response to the row over tax avoidance last night. He has already said on twitter that he made "a terrible judgement." The Today programme's reporter Nicola Stanbridge ventured to the City of London to find out how tax avoidance is perceived there.
A financial expert, speaking anonymously, said that the exposure of legal tax avoidance schemes will encourage "the man in the street to get involved rather than repent". He also added that tax avoidance schemes are "justly criticised" but there are ways to be more efficient.
