Another similar to RHB is Staithes - up the coast from Whitby.
but RHB is best :) even with the mountainous brae lol.
When the tide is out one can park up at a little narrow inlet called Boggle Hole w(hich has/had a Youth Hostel just up from the beach) and one can walk through to Robin Hood's Bay on the beach. It's quite a climb up at RHB but the ice cream available helps! Watch the tide if you want to get back to your car at Boggle Hole though because the tide will cut you off if you're not back in time! :-)
Very enjoyable series of boos from your Yorkshire holiday break. Yes, I have stayed at The Grand in Scarborough twice before. It is delapidated but I love it anyway. Dee likes the self-service meals in there and I like dodging the seagulls on the terrace which overlooks the beach donkeys. They have free open wifi which means one can watch BBC iPlayer and ITV Player on iPad when it rains. I wish I was there now! :-)
