Not sure why I am writing this other than sheer boredom, but three sheets (ropes) were required to to tie up the sails on on old square-rigged ships. So, if all three of the ship's sheets were loose in the wind, the sail would flop about and the ship would go off course -- rather like a drunken sailor staggering around on shore, or you not telling the story you were going to tell on audioboo. Sounds like you your were successful in erasing your lousy week, though.
