Totally agree with you about the community aspect of WordPress, that is always going to be the driving force and future of an open source CMS.
There are so many tutorials out there and great people who are enthusiast enough to help you out if you hit a problem.

Its almost a lifestyle decision to use WordPress as it has such a great following and community spirit!

My boss has shot me down on several occasions whenever I mention wanting to try out Wordpress as a CMS. He claims that there are security issues with it and that the time he tried Wordpress out that in a matter of weeks it was compromised. I didn't know if you had heard anything about such issues.

I would say that saying the MT community is 'dying' is a little strong!

True, the plugin directory has plenty of old plugins that are not supported. However, with the release of MT open source there has been a real influx of new plugins. The work by Six Apart on MT Motion and Activity Streams is top notch stuff.

Compared to the WP community the MT developer community is pretty small, but there is plenty of life in it yet!
