braillesnailI love it but my reading is still slow. I guess writing language is lwya easier than reading it. I was the same in English. I agree it's very important and I have no idea where these people get their logic when they say audio is enough. It's so not.
MistinessI love Braille. I learned it at age 4 though. Braille is really important for VI kids to learn, if you rely solely on audio....you'll never learn to spell or construct sentances. You need to 'see' or feel the words to learn those skills. Its also important, as you said, for people to learn it to gain independence. I love that even though I can't see I can physically read a book...and, I can read a book in the dark! Reading in the dark, one of the perks of being a brailleist. Well done you for working your way through it, admirable.
