    • americannamor I agree and I have always felt this is one of the biggest revolutions in historical preservation. But I would like to see more effort in keeping the data safe and organized. For the short term (say passing our digital data down to a child or even grand child) big sites like YT etc may work and internet archiving like what Google is doing can help preserve the data even more but more has to be done to keep data safe when we start talking about hundreds of years. History in it's digital form , even though it seems safe with backups and archiving it really is rather fragile. How often on our own computers have we lost important data or are unable to access old data because it's no longer compatible with current programs. I guess there are big archiving projects dedicated to keeping data safe for prosperity but I think it has a long way to go. And perhaps in the future artificial intelligence would be able to understand and make use of the vast amount of data out there. If not, in the future someone who can access and understand a Microsoft Word Document might be as rare as scholars today that can read Greek Linear B. (I sort of got away from the spirit of your talk)-So, even with the uncertainty of a future digital record I totally support and encourage people to take advantage of what we have today-Especially sites like YT.

    • andymooseman @kenrg It sure was an exciting time & i'm so glad that i just at the right age to fully appreciate it & get involved, to some extent. That book i read., did mention the LA scene & especially the Dead Kennedys. I still have the 45's of Holidays In Cambodia & California Uber Alles. Great songs. You ought to do your own Boo of your memories. That's if it's not too dangerous? :)
    • andymooseman @CoreyMichaels The Ramones were certainly an influence on the Sex Pistols. I think that they are the two bands who really kicked it off.
    • kenrg It was an exciting time to be alive and listening to music. After most of the 70's were taken up by disco or factory produced slick rock, it was so refreshing to hear the Sex Pistols or (as Corey said) the Ramones. For me it was also the Dead Kennedys, X, and the Plimsouls. And it wasn't Liverpool, but it was Sunset Blvd, Hollywood; the Whiskey, the Roxy, and then down to the Troubadour. I probably shouldn't go any further without checking the statue of limitations on what happened next.

    • andymooseman I remember Italia 90 & Nessun Dorma too. That sticks in my mind too. Nice response & good memories as well. Your story reminds me a little of one of the stores that i used. That personal touch is sadly lacking these days isn't it? This has made me think about my own DJing memories. Maybe a topic for another Boo?
    • kenrg Great to have a shop owner who learns about and takes care of regular customers and really gets the service aspect of it. So rare these days, from any type of retailer.
