SassyCatthanks for the words...i will keep in mind all that you said. Ok, it might fly out the my ear, after a while of floating around. I will try to add some mo' interesting characters into my boos...just for you! lol
KirkProductionsDear Favorite Self-Described iPhone Slut, thank you (yet again...geez Louise) for the giggles. Although this boo lacked the obligatory pancake-scarfers, handkerchief-eschewing derelict cheeseburger-refusers, and shameful ticklefests that normally grace your boos, I found this one to be quite acceptable in providing entertainment value dollar for dollar (what should one expect for free, anyway...) LOL. You know I'm messing with ya, and if you could have brought back a Jethro Tull character for this boo, you would have. Have a wonderful Sunday morning. Hugs from the hick part of the world.
PilgrimChrisIt's seems it's a question of priorities. What are Audioboo's priorities? Scaling is an issue every Dev has to deal with if they are either successful and/or want to be successful. Not sure it's an end users concern really. They just require sn app/service that works for them.
On competition - if there is little competition it is for a number of reasons. Worst case - no one wants the service/product. Or the existing providers do it so well no one else can compete directly. Or the service/product is in it's infancy and others have yet to see its potential.
I like Audioboo. I am one of those people who probably promote Audioboo more than actually use it. I would use it more , but as a mobile only user (no PC , laptop, notebook, tablet or any fruit) I rely on apps or mobile friendly websites. Hence the app debates/discussions are always of interest. I am writing this on my android for example.
I support Audioboo by talking about it and advocating it - I wish I could do more. I also wish I could more easily join in these discussions via mobile ;-)
The Audioboo team have always been polite, helpful and interactive and hopefully Audioboo can 'jump through hoops' to helo make it the best of its kind.
topgoldI'm a big in-app fan and want to wade in with my thoughts: http://audioboo.fm/boos/926754-the-essential-in-app-audioboo-commenting-system
ErnmanderI can believe it Mark. I've been in a fortunate situ over the last few months to see behind the scenes of developer issues and scaling etc. AudioBoo will always remain one of my fave apps/service.
savankWe just finished our iphone app and updated the site to handle conversations around your published audio, photo and/or text. Feel free to come back and test us out (again!).

ColtSeaversA superb article 8) I must agree with you on ipadio - a friend of a friend is involved and advised me to check it out - it felt entirely different from AudioBoo, not just because of the technology, but because of the user experience - which in my view is over complicated. As you say, that's probably because they are going for a different target market - probably one that brings with it a less 'speculative' and risky business model....but I fail to see why you would, as any sort of broadcaster, opt for the low-fi option. I must commend AudioBoo for showing everyone how it's done. It would be an travesty if they were to fail to reach their aspirations for this service.....at last a tool that feels inclusive, analogue and human.....
