andymooseman@anakin1814 I've said many times in videos, that we need to talk to our parents & grandparents. Thankfully, i got quite a bit of info from my father & from my grandmother, on my mothers side. That helped me a lot. I even found out things from my father that my mother didn't know! I'd like to get back into genealogy at some point. With the Internet that's now easier than ever. But, nothing can replace talking to your relatives.
anakin1814Much like you, I’ve always been interested in where my family tree stems from. When I was in the 8th grade, I developed an interest in genealogy. I remind asking my grandfather about it and by this point, he was just too cranky and couldn’t be bothered to try to think back a generation or two (he was always an ornery old coot). With that, I just kind of let my family history be. Last summer, at one of our family campfires I other grandfather and grandmother where they were from. So at least on my mom’s side of the family, I found out that I’m part German, Dutch, Irish, and Polish. I guess my dad’s side is a mixture of German and Belgian. I believe my last name is actually quite Belgian. It was good to find those things out....and not a moment too soon. The grandma who gave me some of that info last summer is the one who had the stroke and isn’t very capable of real type of communication anymore...But I digress. Good podcast! :)
andymooseman@_PIP_ As it happens, i was sent a link to that prog because of this Boo. Very interesting documentary & something i'd not heard about before. I may have to explore a little more.
