ColtSeaversI think we'll see the 'free culture' gradually getting more restrictive. Most of the free stuff doesn't get fully paid for by advertising - another revenue source if needed long term. At the moment, with a brave new world of broadband and media delivery, the market is essentially 99% start ups. Free is obviously attractive. In future, as market leaders emerge with more strength and confidence, charges will appear - payment mechanisms will get more seamless - and the market will take care of the rest. Long live Open Source then - which keeps Information in the public domain, encourages innovation and is always going to be the best way of empowering 'the people' to challenge the market's way of doing things.
