My Netbook has a feature called 'Sleep and Charge' which basically means that the USB ports can be used as a power supply. I can charge the Netbook (with Solar or car) and if I don't use the Netbook much I can use it as a battery for my other devices.
The iPad should do this. Save carrying loads of batteries.
The other thing is for every device to have the ability to take AA batteries (or have an adapter). I carry loads of AA batteries, buy tech that uses AA batteries and have chargers that charge AA batteries. Transferring power would be simply transferring the AA batteries. Standardising the mobile power industry.
