kenrgSo very true - I came to LA from Boston at 13 (in 1974), and letter writing was not a top priority. Had my old friends and I been hooked up on Facebook, it's boggling to think how things might have been different.
OhCurtI guess it all depends on how its applied, because in most cases I feel like it's enhanced things for me. But sadly I've also seen a few friendships lose their "punch" or just plain die out because the ease of all these electronic/virtual options. Maybe those people would have fallen by the wayside completely instead of gradually turning into Internet "white noise" - who knows.
WorldAccordingtoRichI've never agreed with all of the pundits out there that dismiss Facebook and the like as diminishing true friendship - I really do think that it enhances and preserves friendship, particularly in our increasingly crowded lives.
