ianChris, do you think data only will ever be an option? I hope so. You could be right about networks providing their own Wimax service, perhaps soon all data including phone calls will be over the internet using a contract based data only tariff. I don't think data is 'the new oil', phone and text services are as they will be replaced by data plans. This way, mobile phone companies will no longer worry about competition from VoIP such as Skype and Truphone as they will charge for the data used for VoIP calls.
gregmcqueen£30 gets me 25GB of data on the 3 network here in DK. But I am sure stricter data restrictions are coming. You are right ... data is the new oil.
