    • slandi Oh here's the source document: http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
    • slandi Hi @sm2n, @macolgan and @akrabat. I understand the whole concept of "Recently Used" apps, however, with my own little iPhone, whose battery I'm afraid is long gone past its best before date, I've had to take some measures to try and mitigate battery drainage. First thing I did was put it in "Airplane" mode, but re-enabled the WIFI, as I don't use it as an actual phone it's fine this way. The other thing I also did was to turn off "Notification" on many if not most of my apps. I'm figuring it this way, if notifications are on, then either each app must be launched and check for a push message and then shutdown or some part of the app must run in the background. I came up with this as I was scouring Apple's site on battery performance and in one of their tip sheets saw the following: If Apple are suggesting turning off Notification to conserve battery power then I assume that something is NOT running to conserve that power. Does my theory hold water? "Turn off push notifications: Some applications from the App Store use the Apple Push Notification service to alert you of new data. Applications that extensively rely on push notifications (such as instant messaging applications) may impact battery life. To disable push notifications, go to Settings > Notifications and disable notifications for select applications. Note that this does not prevent new data from being received when the application is opened. Also, the Notifications setting will not be visible if you do not have any applications installed that support push notifications."

Questions about #iPhone4 to #iPhone5 upgrade and passing on iPhone without losing apps. #O2 vs #EE - #TMobile & #Orange
    • Sair OK I've been on to O2 this morning and persuaded them to cancel my order so I can re-order correct phone. They have done this and I am waiting for a confirmation email to that effect. I went on to Orange and T-Mobile's sites and checked out their prices and tariffs. Good thing I did. It says that the new iPhone is only compatible with iTunes on a mac on OS X 10.6.8 or higher. My mac is only v10.5.something so I wouldn't be able to hook it up. I know that I could still probably use my apps via the cloud but if I am to pass my old phone on to Dee, I need to know that I can hook it up to iTunes and back up that way so that nothing is lost. I'm old-fashioned that way, whether it's necessary for that or not. :-) I need a new mac before I get an iPhone 5. Not just for that but so much is out of date now. I have had a problem in my mac in the past whereby something has gone awry with the hard drive. My mac still works but applications are not where they should be etc., so I dare not change my OS to a newer one for fear of messing up/losing things. Plus I've never done a defrag on my mac yet (I know, I'm stupid). I'm going to save up for a new macbook/macbook pro and put a new phone on hold for the time being. I shall be jealous of all those with the new iPhone 5 but waiting is the only option for me for now. Thanks for taking an interest and let me know if you got a new iPhone 5!
    • Sair Thanks to you both. As I am happy with O2's coverage, I don't use my devices much away from home wifi and have decided that I am not too bothered about getting 4G yet, I've decided to upgrade with O2.. I made a mistake on ordering however and have to phone again today to try and correct my error, changing 16Gb to 32Gb. Wish me luck! Thanks again.
