andrewmcnivenRecording made with iPod touch and Belkin TuneTalk stereo mic on 29th Decemebr 2010.This building was where the Fine Art and Textiles Departments of Goldsmiths' were based until 1988. This is where many of the artists associated with Goldsmiths' and British art of the last twenty years were students. It was a self-contained place, with its own bar and was a bit of a backwater, which may explain why it flourished as an art school. Prior to this it was a secretarial school, was owned by the Church of England and used as a training college and was used as a hospital during World War 1, where Vera Brittain served as a nurse and wrote about in her memoir 'Testament of Youth'. It is now converted into flats and is fancifully named 'St. Gabriel's Manor'.
