Meredith's story has a different emotional coloring from Rod's (another Rod), lighter and more perky, but equally engaging. David Ogilvy famously said that Truth is Better than Creativity. Hopefully these stories resonate accordingly.
RodSchwartzOf the five ads I wrote for this one-day campaign, this was by far and away my favorite - in part, because the combination of words and sounds creates a vivid picture in the listener's mind, and in part because Don played it absolutely straight through the whole spot. Lots of customers called or commented on it, and at least one guy come in to the parts department looking to buy one for his wife! Too funny.
Will we do this again next year? Absolutely. Can't wait to brainstorm the new spots.
