TolknyJustin Champion is right in suggesting that in the UK we do not take proper responsibility for our shared affairs.
I am not sure that Republicanism will change this, although I am a republican. What is needed is a move away from the Governments treating us as customers and us responding as such, which seems a direction the UK has gone in since Thatcher was PM.
