PewariIt really does sound like Tumblr would be the best solution for you:

It has its own widget to add stuff really easily - no you're not self hosting, and you do hold a risk of losing it, but it works in the most similar way to Posterous and I think you'd feel comfortable with it :) Bonus, it's free so you can experiment with it and see if you're comfortable with it.
