andymooseman@anakin1814 Thanks Gary. That's it, rub my age in why don't you! ;)
Although, as i said, i do miss those vinyl days. The fact that you can carry around your entire music library, if you want to, is pretty amazing. Just perfect for those long car journey's with friends :)
anakin1814Great podcast Andy! Being a little younger than you, my memories of vinyl are of getting a record player for Christmas when I was maybe 5 or 6 (around 76). It looked like a case that had a flip up snap on the side. You’d open it up and there was a record player inside. I remember getting novelty albums as a child like “Disco Duck” and “Sesame Street Disco.” I just loved it. I remember my mom getting a stack of singles at an auction a few years later with a song by Wolfman Jack and Meatloaf’s “Two Otta Three Ain’t Bad’! Of course, having all of my teen years in the 80s (I graduated in 89), I remember going to the record stores at the mall and looking for the rare...get this...cassette singles, that would have some remix or b-side on it. What a horrible format but I had my share! By the time I got into CDs in the early 90s, things got so much more commercial and all the record stores were chains. Nowadays, all those stores are gone and the big box stores like Best Buy and Walmart that sell the majority of music have recently downsized their music sections. Another sign of the times. Of course, going on road trips with mp3 players full of music isn’t a bad tradeoff, is it? Great post!
andymooseman@kenrg Our record counters were usually attached to places far less interesting than yours Ken!
I wondered if somebody would pick up on the Boo's location. All i can say is that the tide was out at the time. I just never realised it went out that far!
