soundmap I'm not very good on birdsong either, and I've tried to educate myself by listening to birdsong CDs and even buying a DVD to watch and hear the birds at the same time. Maybe it only be learned effectively in real life, something in the mind switching on when you're in the presence of the animal.

bulldozia I am afraid my bird-identification skills are pretty non-existent, and I realize I'd get a lot more out of field recording if I did something about it.
