philcampbellwell the 13" is totally different to your current 15" because it has that new battery, new gpu and when snow leopard hits will be able to use all that new onboard tech. i would say that a new 13" with the same spec + ssd would fly. you really have to see/play with a SSD drive enabled machine to see how quick they are. in bootup and day to day operation.
a new 13" with 3ghz, 8gb and ssd would probably cream ya current machine.
DocumentallyCheers for doing this Phil..
Will an SSD drive make a 13" lappy faster than my current 2.6GHz 4GB 667 15" ?
philcampbellwell the pricing is almost like time senstive news if you think about - at the moment of launch it is worth a lot but as time drags on and the buzz dies down and overheads are collected from "those gotta have it" people (doh, that's me then) then it gets cheaper. we are really only paying for the outlay of the development costs - you know like cpu and motherboard manufactors they have faster on the bench. we are simply the catalyst that pays for the development. ;)
jeffglassonMuch agreed - existing users are hosed on the upgrade. It should be interesting to see if there will be a mass outcry that provokes a change...
