FoucaultAgain, it's down to education. I guess they thought they were being helpful! My Wife's mother used to make my Wife eat bananas, despite her protests, although she didn't know she was allergic until later. Now my MIL feels guilty about it.
GattamelataI'm allergic to bananas too, although they are easier to avoid. I was at one restaurant where they brought my bunless hamburger with a side order of pasta salad!
