DaylightGambler Absolutely right @FiremanRich - hangouts, private or not, are only as private as the url! If it is shared, guessed or otherwise acquired, anyone with an account can join it.

FiremanRich Good question DaylightGambler. You ca make YouTubes and Google Docs private but if someone outside your Circle gets the URL I would imagine that unwanted person can use the URL if accidentally released by someone in the Circle. The same could hold true for Google Hangouts. Found from the little research I just did: private hangouts can be achieved by sharing only with your Circle, or sharing only with individuals. However, you can't stop the group members from sharing the URL with others - and that way, it kinda goes against what "private" means, especially if you're the one hosting the group. So if that;s the way it is then it falls back on the integrity of the whole group Circle. Until Google can achieve total private hangout capability.
