We often take online connectivity for granted and get frustrated when it’s slow and our apps or games are lagging. Barring any external factors such as ISP service and such, here are five tips you can do to ensure a smooth experience.

Opt for Wi-Fi Over Mobile Network

Unless you live right next to a cellular tower or have the latest 5G network in your house or area, home wi-fi is still more stable compared to a mobile network. That said, if you’re at home and want to play online poker without any interruptions, you should always choose home wi-fi.

    Check and Remove Background Apps

Regardless of whether you’re using a smartphone or laptop, you should always check and remove apps or software running in the background before you start. These background apps might be using data or memory, which in turn makes your game or browsing slower than normal.

    Reset Your Router

A router reset is one of the best ways to ensure a steady stream of data coming your way. It’s fairly easy to do- locate your router device and either turn it off or unplug from the wall outlet. Wait for a minute, then turn it on or plug it back in. Wait for the connection to go online and proceed.

    Do an Internet Test

You can gauge how your internet speed is at the moment by running an online connection test. This can be done on websites or apps that offer speed test. Click or tap on the ‘test’ button and wait for the results. If it’s much slower than what you’re paying for, then reset your router and do another test.

    Choose an Off-Peak Hour

Lastly, you can choose to play games or do data-intensive tasks on off-peak hours, or when there are fewer online users.
