    Who needs a New Year’s resolution when we can try to be healthier every day? There are a lot of people who want to ditch bad habits and change their lives for the better but lack motivation or simply the will to follow through with these decisions in the long term.

    Motivation can be tricky when there is no easy way of keeping yourself accountable and being able to look back on how far you have already come. It may sound corny, but true to the modern day saying “there’s an app for that” there are some incredible health apps that are designed to help anybody achieve their health goals.

    Running – Runkeeper

    Running is still the most popular exercise in the world and is a great way to get in some good exercise. Runkeeper is a GPS based fitness tracking app which allows users to keep track of their runs, that is the core mechanic which Runkeeper, as any other running app, is built on. What Runkeeper does differently is put an emphasis on an individual.

    The app tracks all the details of your run to give you a full rundown on how you have improved, and how far is still left to go before reaching your goals. There is also a large social aspect to Runkeeper which allows you to compare progress with friends and stay motivated for the long haul. Running is great, but not your ideal exercise? Runkeeper works perfectly for walking and cycling too.

    Sleep – Sleepscore

    It’s difficult to overstate how important sleep really is. The ability to wake up in the morning feeling rested is a pleasure that far too few people experience on a regular basis. Sleepscore is here to save the day and help you get a better night of sleep. The initial assumption is that one would need some special smartwatch to be able to accurately track your sleeping pattern, but no. All you need is a smartphone and the free app.

    Sleepscore uses sonar and works by emitting a high-pitched tone through your phone’s main speaker and using your phone’s microphones to listen for reflections of the high-pitched sound. The particular sound is just above the average range of human hearing, so should have no negative effects on your night sleep. Once Sleepscore has been used for a few nights, the app will be able to provide tips on how to improve your night sleep and a great alarm to wake up when you would feel most rested.

    Meditation – Headspace

    Finding a calmer state of mind and feeling happier in general is something that everybody wants to do, but very few seem to know how. Meditation can be difficult for a beginner, especially without the guidance needed to start. Headspace is a fully guided tour through mediation at your own pace to fight off the stresses of daily life.

    Like playing at an online gambling casino, meditation can be a great tool for letting go of stress. But Headspace goes beyond de-stressing your life, helping to improve productivity and support your mental health. Be it meditation or some great mindfulness tools, Headspace is the perfect app to start a journey into better mental health.
