There are many ways to make money in RuneScape, and this guide will help you get started. The first thing you should know about making money in Runescape is that you must spend money to make money.
Methods involving monster killing (PVM), player-versus-player (PKing), and merchanting/flipping all require a foundation of money and with that foundation you can earn even up to the millions! The first thing we are going to talk about is how to build that foundation.

F2P (Free to Play):
Cows:
While killing cows for cowhide may seem very “nooby”, it is a great way of making money if you are just starting out. If you are a low-level player (1-30 combat), you might need some food, armour, and weapons but you shouldn’t need that much as cows are only level 2 combat.
Drops to pick up: Cowhide, staff of air, Spin ticket (optional).
Money per hour: (Greatly depends on combat level) Approximately 52500 gp/hour
Location: Northeast of Lumbridge Castle
Nearest bank: Lumbridge Castle
Mining rune essence:
(Requirements: completion of Rune Mysteries Quest.) Another great way to made money in Runescape is by mining pure essence. This can be done by going to the Magic shop in Varrock and having Aubury teleport you to the mine.
Nearest Bank: Varrock East Bank
Money per hour: Approximately 25000 gp/hour
Fishing:
Fishing is a very common method of making money. The higher the level of your fishing is, the more money you are going to make.
Levels 1-20: Shrimp (8800-17000 gp/hour)
Levels 20-25: Trout (14500-30000 gp/hour)
Levels 25-30: Pike(15000-35000 gp/hour)
Levels 30-35: Salmon(18000-37000 gp/hour)
Levels 35-40: Tuna (20000-39000 gp/hour)
Levels 40-60: Lobster( 29000-70000 gp/hour)
Levels 60 and beyond: Swordfish(50000- 350000 gp/hour)
NOTE: These estimates of gp/hour vary greatly upon your fishing level. The higher your level, the more money you will make.

Pure essence is a member’s version of rune essence that costs a lot more. They have the same requirements as mining rune essence except for the fact that you must have level 30 mining.

Pick flax in Seers’ Village than spin them on the spinning wheel in the second level of the nearest house to get bow strings.

F2P/P2P:
Flipping/Merchanting: (This method will require you to have at least 500,000 gp for it to be affective otherwise it will not make you a lot of cash if any at all.) You can get OSRS gold online get to this point, or use the methods previously discussed.
Flipping, in my opinion, one of the best ways to make money in RuneScape! Basically, it’s buying an item for a lower price and selling for a higher price. If done right, this method will make you a millionaire!
How to Flip:
Pick an item to flip (see items list below). Buy one of that item on the Grand Exchange for %10 higher than its regular price. Take note of the price at which the item bought at.
Sell that item %10 percent lower than the regular price. Take note of the price at which the item sold at. If done right, your item should have bought at a higher price and sold for a lower price.
Take the Sold price of the item and make it your new buying price and take the original buying price of the item and make it your new selling price.
For example: Bought at 300 gp and Sold at 250 gp. Buy at 250 gp and sell for 300 gp.
In my example, a 50 gp profit may not seem like a huge profit but that’s only the profit of one item. If that same item is bought and sold in large numbers, the total profit would be astounding! For example, if I bought 1,000 swordfish at 250 gp and sold them for 300 gp, I would make a 50,000 gp profit from buying and selling swordfish.
You probably will not come across items like swordfish with a 50gp profit margin as that would be rare. Even an item with a 10 gp margin or range will make you a lot of cash if you flip a lot of them.
I recommend flipping low cost items such as the different types of fish, runes, ores, and arrows. This should be done until you reach about 3 million gp. At that point, start flipping more expensive items such as rune armor sets and different types of weapons such as scimitars and 2-handed swords as they will yield a much higher margin which will give you more money for each flip.
Be patient! This is one of the most important things to remember when flipping. Just remember that flipping requires little to no effort and you are making money not doing anything at all.
Also keep in mind that you are making a lot more money per hour than your regular money-making methods. If an item does not have a decent margin, move on to another item as there are many more you can flip.
Slaying:
Slaying is by far one of the best money-making ways in P2P Runescape. You can get extremely rare drops from monsters that you can sell to the G.E. for $$$! Just remember to always wear a ring of wealth when slaying as it will increase your chances of getting a rare drop.
